The Traditional Mom came to life not long ago because my husband and I were discussing how the concept of sharing the importance of family traditions remained (after many years) such a passion of mine.  He had recently starting working and writing for a great Christian news website (be sure to check it out at www.EverydayChristian.com!) and I thought sharing a blog about what a "Traditional Mom" of today was doing to create traditions and instill values in her family might just be welcomed by readers!

So, just what does a traditional mom do these days?

Well, it seems to me, pretty much everything and anything. From work and family obligations and the necessity to remain grounded in faith, today’s mothers have complex pushes and pulls on their lives. I hope to explore the struggles and joys, and share a few helpful hints along the way, in considering the roles of Christian mothers everywhere.

My own faith walk began as a little girl in church and at Methodist summer camps. It’s grown through my nearly 18 years of marriage and the ups and downs of raising three wonderful boys with my husband. It truly has been a blessing and a challenge to be the only female in the house with the exception of the family pet of the moment.

I balance career and home life as a COO and general counsel of an insurance business in the Indianapolis area. I also love to share family traditions, scrapbooking, and my crafty (ok - I try to be crafty!) side with girlfriends whenever possible.

All this certainly doesn’t make me the perfect mom – as if there is such a person -- but hopefully one with relevant stories and hopes to share.
